Fort Zachory Taylor truly is a great place to visit during your next trip to Key West. The Fort was at one point surrounded by the water but now has been back filled in order to make the park bigger and easlier accessible. It is free to view the Fort once you have paid to get into the park.The cost is $1.50 for adults on bicycle or on foot.This is also a great place to watch cruise ships coming and going.From the top of the Fort one can enjoy panoramic views of Key West Harbor, Sunset Key and both the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico.The water is usually very clear here which makes for great snorkelling through out the park.The water depth runs from 0- 15ft and one can see fish like Grouper, Snapper,large snoek, turtles and Manatee’s from time to time.There are nice shady trees at the park which makes for a great place to hang up a hammock.
