Mid Town Key West
Mid Town Key West homes have the convenience of being just a mile or two from shopping and schools, but also a short bike ride to Old Town and popular tourist attractions, like Duval Street and Mallory Square- home of the famous nightly Sunset Celebration.
Mid Town is technically divided into Mid Town East, which goes from White Street to First Street and Mid Town West which is First Street to the 9th Street canal (see Key West neighborhood map). Many of the locals enjoy living in this area because of the residential feel and the proximity to work, school and play locations. You can spend a night wandering down Duval Street, watch the sunset and then head back to your quiet residential home.
The homes in this area of Key West vary greatly in size and style. Most of the original homes were built in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s as the islands population expanded west to east from Old Town. These homes were primarily ground level single family homes made of concrete block construction. Most of the homes in this area are not governed under HARC (Historic Architectural Review Commission), therefore many different types of renovations have taken place and newer homes have replaced the older structures.
