New Town Key West
The east side of Key West, from about 8th Street and up is locally known as New Town. This area is where you will find most of Key West’s larger grocery and department stores. Key West International Airport, a large nature area called the Salt Ponds and a large year-round residential community is also in this area. There are several larger condominium complexes located here as well. You can read more about Key West Condominiums here. Most of the original homes in this area date from the 1960’s and newer . There are still many original, ground-level single family homes but also many modern, newer homes.
